About Me

Hi! My name is Carissa South.  I grew up in Oklahoma City and after graduating I left for Arkansas for college.  While there I met the love of my life, Brett.  After spending five married years in Arkansas we moved back to Oklahoma to be closer to my family!  Brett and I have been married for twelve years.  We have two amazing dogs, Daisy and Thunder!

I have been blessed with the most supportive parents as well as a wonderful sister and a great little brother. You can always catch them during their free time helping out in my classroom or just bringing me food!! 

I have been teaching for five years.  Each year brings new and exciting adventures.  I am apart of a looping team.  There are four teachers on our team.  We each start with a first grade class and then move up to second grade with them.  When that class moves on  to third grade, we then move back down to first grade to pick up a new group of students.  I love being a looping teacher!  By the time I reach 2nd grade with those students I know how they learn, what motivates them, and have a great bond with them as well as their parents.  We have seen students become stronger readers and we have seen students who hated school come to love it!  I can't think of anything else I would rather do!
